The 2024 BMW i5 has two powertrain options. With the base eDrive40, you'll get an electric motor and 84.3-kWh battery pack battery that combine to produce 335 horsepower. The M60 xDrive comes with two electric motors and an 84.3-kWh battery pack, and they generate 590 horsepower. A single-speed automatic transmission rounds out both powertrains.

The eDrive40 has rear-wheel drive, while the M60 gets xDrive® all-wheel drive. This new BMW sedan is swift. While the eDrive40 can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, the M60 cuts two seconds off that time.

Driving Range and Charging Time

If you choose the eDrive40, you'll get a driving range of up to 295 miles. With the M60, you can go up to 256 miles before charging your battery, by EPA estimates. Should you need to "top off" while driving, a Level 3 DC fast charging station can get the vehicle to an 80 percent charge in 30 minutes.

Interior Amenities

Up to five people will fit very nicely in the 2024 BMW i5, and the seats are highly supportive and comfortable. As for the cargo room, the trunk offers 17.3 cubic feet of space.
