Have you noticed you don’t have the traction you want? Thinking you may be having issues with your xDrive® AWD system? You may be surprised to learn that it might just be time to buy new BMW tires at BMW of Sherman Oaks.

How Does xDrive® AWD Work?

BMW xDrive® AWD is an advanced all-wheel-drive system that gives you extra traction when you need it most. It distributes power between your front and rear axles and can intuitively redistribute your power (even up to 100 percent) to the axles with the most traction to help maximize the grip you have.

How Do Tires Affect Traction?

Your AWD system gets all of its traction from your tires. Your tread blocks flex as you drive, gripping the road. You’ll see that different types of tires have different tread patterns, making some tires better for adverse conditions than others.

Which is More Important?

While AWD is undoubtedly beneficial, when it comes down to it, your tires are more important for traction. Your AWD system can’t do much for you if your tires are bald or you’re using the wrong type of tires. Your tires are particularly important in everyday driving conditions where you need extra control, such as cornering or braking.

Do I Need New Tires?

As you can imagine, it’s essential to routinely inspect your tires to make sure that they can provide the traction you need. You want to look for unusual wear and ensure you always have at least 4/32 of an inch of tread.
