BMW AG has confirmed that a new model known as the BMW XM is on its way, scheduled for a Fall 2022 release as a 2023 model. Here are some of the details we know so far and why this model is worth checking out if you’re on the search for a high-performance three-row SUV.
Performance
Under the hood will be a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter engine paired with an electric motor. Its total output is an impressive 644 horsepower and an estimated 738 lb-ft of torque. The automaker has confirmed that an optional upgrade to an engine with a jaw-dropping 750 horsepower will be available later.
Among the multiple drive modes is a Comfort setting, which provides an exceptionally smooth ride, made possible due to a coil-spring suspension enhanced by adaptive dampers with anti-roll bars.
Exterior Design
The exterior design takes its cues from other high-performance vehicles in the BMW M lineup. These include a sculpted hood, a lighted kidney grille, and the unique double bars that signify the M Series. Other design highlights include a pronounced sloped roofline and sharp arches emphasizing the beefy 23-inch wheels.
Infotainment
The interior is as comfortable and performance-oriented as you’d expect from a new BMW model. Its centerpiece is a single curved display screen that encompasses a large portion of the dashboard. This screen houses the digital gauge cluster and the BMW iDrive® infotainment system, the latter accessed via an easy-to-use rotary controller.
